Why the Historic Manhattan Casino?

Historic Manhattan Casino, the location for Satchmo & St. Pete: A Love Story on October 11th, was built in 1925 and hosted some of music’s most legendary performers, including James Brown, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughn, Fats Domino, the Ink Spots, and, of course, LOUIS ARMSTRONG! Manhattan Casino recently reopened after closing their doors in 1968. We are thrilled to partner with them for Satchmo & St. Pete. In this video, St. Pete residents reminisce about what the place meant to the African American community.
